Upon winning the Super Bowl, Tony Dungy stated that his success was the result of every leader that had invested in his life, from summer camp until the present.

I once listened to Erwin McManus speak on the topic of the invisible leader. He said that God brings people onto our team (and into our lives) in order that we mentor them for another assignment; and that as they go we extend our influence to this new place.

He went on to say that each of us must choose between being great or famous. Greatness is invisible leadership that impacts lives without the promise of affirmation. It is humbling to consider that we continue to lead vicariously through the lives of those whom we have led.
