Desperation! My mentor always said “desperate people do desperate things”. It is true that our nation’s crime rate moves exactly opposite as the ebb and flow of the economy. It would seem that desperate people do desperate things. Acts of desperation usually come just before hopelessness. In football we call it a “hail Mary”; throw for the goal line and pray we catch it!

In the book, The 2 degree difference, John Trent offers a fresh approach to addressing desperate situations. He presents story after story of how small alterations can transform an outcome.  Finding ourselves in desperate circumstances rarely require a major shift to generate change.

Need more proof?  Imagine yourself driving a mountain road.  The road is narrow with pin needle curves.  The lanes are slender allowing little room for error.  Turning the wheel too much to the right, you crash into the rocky landscape.  Over compensating to the left could yield a head-on collision.  Staying observant to your surroundings, and making slight adjustments, is all that is required to guarantee a safe ascension.

Are you desperate for progress?  Evaluate your “landscape” and determine a diminutive adjustment you can make today that will bring accelerated progress.
